Material & Care Guide

At VARBITS, our products are carefully designed and 3D printed to create personalised, lightweight, and durable items for everyday use.

Most of our products are printed using PLA, a popular 3D printing material known for its clean finish, strong detail, and reliable quality.

What is PLA?

PLA stands for Polylactic Acid. It is a commonly used 3D printing plastic made from renewable plant-based materials such as corn starch or sugarcane.

PLA is a great choice for custom 3D printed items because it produces a smooth finish, holds detail well, and is suitable for many everyday products such as keychains, decorations, signs, models, gifts, and display pieces.

PLA Temperature Guide

PLA is durable for normal indoor use, but it is not designed for high heat.

Please avoid exposing PLA products to temperatures above approximately 50°C, as the material may begin to soften, warp, or deform.

To help keep your item in the best condition, please avoid leaving it:

  • In a hot car
  • In direct sunlight for long periods
  • Near heaters or fireplaces
  • Outdoors in extreme heat
  • In dishwashers, microwaves, or ovens

How to Care for Your 3D Printed Product

To keep your product looking its best:

  • Store it in a cool, dry place
  • Clean gently with a soft cloth
  • Use mild soapy water if needed
  • Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners
  • Do not place heavy objects on thin or detailed parts
  • Keep away from prolonged heat exposure

Are 3D Printed Items Waterproof?

PLA can handle light contact with water, but most 3D printed items are not designed to be fully waterproof unless stated in the product description.

For best results, avoid soaking your item or leaving it exposed to water for long periods.

Are the Colours Painted?

No, our items are printed directly in coloured filament, meaning the colour is built into the material itself rather than painted on afterwards.

This helps create a clean, long-lasting finish that will not chip like painted surfaces. Some products may include additional finishes, such as resin, where listed in the product description.

Handmade 3D Printed Finish

Because each item is 3D printed, small layer lines or slight surface variations may be visible. This is a normal part of the 3D printing process and makes each piece unique.

We carefully check every item before sending it out to make sure it meets our quality standards.
